Sending a Mail/Care Package

When you send mail to an inmate, be sure to include your own name and return address on the envelope. The mail will be discarded if this information is not included.

While you cannot send books or reading materials to inmates directly, you can arrange for soft cover books to be sent directly to the inmate from Amazon or another book publisher. Newspapers and magazines can also be sent directly from the publisher to an inmate.

Sending Money

The easiest way to send money to an inmate at Kent County Juvenile Correctional Services is through MoneyGram or by Western Union. The funds will then be deposited into their Commissary accounts. Make sure you contact the jail first to make sure the inmate is still present and can receive funds.

You can also send US postal money orders. Write the attention to the inmate and mail them to their attention.

Phone calls

The Kent County Juvenile Correctional Services uses Securus for phone service. While inmates cannot receive incoming calls, they can use money you provide on their commissary accounts to make pre-paid phone calls. Set up an account with Securus to get started.

Visitation

Kent County Juvenile Correctional Services has posted guidelines online for visitation. Start by reading the guidelines.

Inmates can receive visitors for up to 30 minutes at a time. While you should plan ahead and set up an appointment, plan on scheduling a visit during one of these time windows:

Females are Thursday 2:00pm-4:00pm or 6:00pm-8:00pm

Work release/Trustees is Sunday 2:00pm-4:00 or 6:00pm-8:00pm

Plan to dress conservatively and do not bring any contraband, food, drinks, or electronics into the visiting area.
