Sending a Mail/Care Package

All mail sent to inmates will be inspected. However, if you mark the mail as “special,” the RRM Philadelphia staff cannot open it unless the inmate is present. You can also subscribe an inmate to publications and periodicals that are sent directly to the inmate from the publisher.

Inquire at the prison about whether or not the inmate can have access to an email account.

Sending Money

It is a federal law that inmates have rights to a commissary account. There are a few different ways to send money to an inmate.

Funds through Money gram are processed daily meaning an inmate should receive your deposit within a couple of hours. To choose this option, 215-521-7300 or you can go to the Moneygram website and set up account to send funds.

Western Union is another option if you have the inmate's eight digit register number and the inmate's last name (example: 12345678DOE). To use Western Union, call 215-521-7300 or get started by going to the Western Union website.

Lastly, you can send a money order in the mail as long as you have the inmate’s full name and eight digit register number. Cash and personal checks cannot be sent in the mail.

Phone calls

While inmates at the RRM Philadelphia cannot receive phone calls, they can make outgoing phone calls. The charges will be billed typically to the inmate, and they can pay from their commissary account, which you can add money to if you need to.
