Sending a Mail/Care Package

If you mark mail to an inmate as “special,” the Northeast Regional Office will only open and inspect the mail in the presence of the inmate. All other mail will be opened and inspected prior to delivery to the inmate.

In addition to sending mail to Northeast Regional Office, you can also set up magazine and periodical subscriptions to be sent directly to the inmate from a publisher.

Some inmates can also now use email, and should inquire at the prison about possibly setting up an email account.

Sending Money

Inmates at Northeast Regional Office rely on their commissary accounts to make purchases for basic necessities from the commissary and to make phone calls. It is easy to send money, and you have a few different ways to send money.

The easiest way is probably to send via Money gram, as inmates will get the funds within a couple hours after your deposit. To get started, call 215-521-7301 or visit the Money gram website.

While you cannot send cash or personal checks in the mail, you can send a money order as long as you have the inmate’s full name and eight digit register number.
