Since there is a library on site at the Woodbury County Jail, books, newspapers, and magazines are not allowed to be sent in the mail. Inmates are not allowed to receive any outside reading material. A volunteer brings a book cart around each cell every week. You are also not allowed to send pictures in the mail.
Sending Money
Inmates can maintain a monetary account at the Woodbury County Jail. They can use money to pay any fines or purchase items at the commissary. They money will be paid to the inmate upon their release.
The only way to send money to an inmate is via the mail. Only U.S. Postal money orders will be accepted for all inmate’s. While not as reliable as a money order, you can also send cash or certified checks.
Phone calls
Inmates at the Woodbury County Jail can access telephones in the general population cellblocks. They can make phone calls anytime between 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. In inmates are on any restrictions or facing any disciplinary, their phone privileges might be revoked. Local calls are charged to the receiver of the phone call at a rate of $1.95 for the first fifteen minutes. Inmates cannot receive phone calls.
