How to Find Someone in Hernando County Detention Center

The easiest way to search for an inmate is to call 352-544-2334 for assistance. The Hernando County Detention Center will respond and answer calls 24 hours a day. On the phone call, tell the staff member the name of who you are looking for. It will help if you know the inmate’s birthdate or age.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

Inmates can receive mail every day. Send letters and postcards directly to inmates. You do not need to include an inmate number on the envelope. Address mail to:

You should include your name and return address on the envelope. The Hernando County Detention Center will screen incoming mail and might reject and destroy any mail that does not have a return address on it. The mail will then not be delivered to the inmate.

Sending Money

Inmates at the Hernando County Detention Center can purchase items in the commissary up to $100 per week. You can add money to their commissary accounts in a few different ways. You can do it online. You can also send a money order to the inmate in the mail. Make the money order out to the inmate’s name and send it with a letter in the mail.

You can also give money in a kiosk in the lobby of the jail. You can pay with credit card or cash at this kiosk.

While an inmate can only spend $100 a week, there is no limit to how much money can be in their account. The money will be given to the inmate upon his release.

Phone calls

Inmates at the Hernando County Detention Center can make phone calls through Securus. A fifteen-minute call costs approximately $11.61. They can use their commissary account to pay for this.

Visitation

You need to make an appointment before visiting an inmate at the Hernando County Detention Center. Call 352-544-2334, or come talk to jail staff in person after 8am on the day you wish to visit. In case you are not permitted to visit, it might be better to make the phone call prior to visiting. Visits can last up to 15 minutes.
