The Palmer County Jail underwent a $59-million renovation project that was finished in 2009. The buildings were all improved making the facility more modernized and more comfortable for inmates and jail personnel alike. Since the Palmer County Jail is so large, and houses so many inmates, it is advisable to call ahead for information before trying to visit an inmate.

Sending Money

You can send money to an inmate at the Palmer County Jail via a money order. You can only use USPS money orders. Mark on the envelope, “Inmate Accounting.” Do not put anything else in the envelope with the money order. Ensure the inmate’s name is in the memo field on the money order. The money order should be made out to the inmate.

You can also leave money for inmates through a kiosk at the Palmer County Jail. This kiosk is open 24 hours a day and works like an ATM machine.

Phone calls

Use Securus to set up a phone account for inmate. Through Securus, inmates at the Palmer County Jail can make outgoing calls, but they cannot receive incoming phone calls. You can use Securus to add money to an inmate’s phone account enabling them to make pre-paid phone calls hassle free.


Do not bring any electronics, including cell phones, into the jail with you, and be sure to dress in a conservative manner when visiting inmates. Inmates can receive one visitor per week. Follow the directions for a video visitation. Schedule your visit at least one day before you plan to visit, but not more than 7 days in advance. Due to the large size of the jail, ensure you follow the directions.
